Meet the staff...
Sue Cooper and Dave Richard opened Hurricane Hole
Outfitters in June 2003. The store sold
bait, tackle, kayaks, and the line of Lazy
Dog merchandise which had been created in
1999 and grown in popularity through the
marketing efforts of both Sue and Dave. In the
first few months of operation, Hurricane
Hole Outfitters quickly bought a boat, which
was christened Lazy Dog Charters, and half
of the Kayak business Outdoor Adventure
Tours.
Local recognition of the Lazy Dog trademark
continued to increase through the first two
years of operation, and when Hurricane Hole
Outfitters bought the remaining half of
Outdoor Adventure Tours and acquired the
kayak company Mosquito Coast Island
Outfitters & Kayak Guides in the winter of
2005, it was decided that the entire company
would be renamed "Lazy Dog Island Outfitters
& Outdoor Adventure Company."
Mission Statement
Life is an adventure... a journey that should be met with a wide open mind. Lazy Dog strives to create a work environment which challenges our capabilities and fuels our enthusiasm. This dynamic work environment nurtures our adventurous spirit and promotes the philosophy that our degree of success is measured only by the amount of fun we have while achieving it. Lazy Dog includes kayak tours and rentals, fishing charters and snorkel trips, and an outfitters store featuring our increasingly famous Lazy Dog line of merchandise. The Lazy Dog brand was conceived out of affection for a single faithful pet, and expresses a simple attitude that both residents and visitors alike identify with. Find your passion and make it your life’s work. We at Lazy Dog believe in what we do and would like to inspire others to do the same.
